Ithaca. Openning night.

21st of November 2013. The private view is ready to start, to help the enjoyment we served Spanish wine, manchego cheese and other Spanish nibbles.

After all the excitement, I can say it was an amazing feeling seeing how everyone liked the view and thought the printings were great.

The exhibition will be on displayed until the 12th of December, as the public seems to enjoy it. So come and visit it, but if you don't have time check my website or the pages in this blog to see the artwork .

Stay safe!

Happy Birthday!

Born in Zurich, Switzerland on 8 November 1884, Rorschach grew up in Schaffhausen and was known to his friends as Klecks, or "inkblot" for his love of klecksography, the making of inkblot "pictures".

He is one of my biggest artistic references next to Salvador Dalí or David Batchelor.

The way he use the art of spotty sizes to connect it with psychology it was one of the main points why I took his work into study while I was looking for my artistic language.

Do you know who I'm talking about?

Not yet?
Google Doodle
Hermann Rorschach!

I have talk about it on the facebook page but thank you to google to remind me it was his birthday, that has made me look again to his essays. I know he wasn't an artists but sometimes references are more of a theory than something esthetic.

Stay Safe,

Come into my brain

Hello all,

After a short holidays on Prague, I went to visit a famous Spaniard who is now a Berliner... Salvador Dalí!

In this permanent exhibition we can see his first lithographic work "Don Quixote", his etching technique, with "Tristan and Isolde" and Dante's Cycle "Divine Comedy". And also my favorite part of it "Alice in Wonderland" where he draw his own visions of the book, with a dreamy Alice and a blurry rabbit.

As part of the exhibition you can see some of his films, and one called Destiny, a colaboration with Walt Disney resulting a cartoon film about a lady looking for his lover and becoming different paintings, I would recommend this museum to everyone with a small interest in art and of course to any passionate about Dalí.

Doing mine his own words "go into his mind" and enjoy Berlin!!

For any extra info about it check the museum website.  http://www.daliberlin.de/en

Pinner News

I can't think in a better way to start October than being on the news! (probably there are much more better ways like sunbathing in a lost paradise with clear water... but let's face it! We are in London now).

Souvenirs

The forgotten part of my artwork.

Souvenirs is a serie of transfers in fabric based of my journeys or memories, some of them are very personal and show pictures of my family, some others still being personal but show landscape or things that called my attention at that time.

It is an interesting technique that I don't show very often, mostly because of the difficulties of its reproduction. I could create a piece with this technique on request as it can be an original detail for someone. So do not hesitate on asking about it.

New project. The Daydream

After months of practice and creation of new artwork, I could see that some of my last series has a common theme: Dreams. Dreams about shapes, dreams about memories, dreams about things that could have been but aren't.

The Daydream is a exhibition idea composed of 3 series of artwork. I would update more pics as soon as I finish with the online editing part and update the website (www.cyntiacerrato.com) but meanwhile, you can have a peak of it: http://cyntiacerrato.blogspot.co.uk/p/the-daydream.html

Kubera Wealth

Kubera Wealth

When you reflect on your life's journey, each stage should look like a masterpiece in your personal gallery

This the place where by the beginning of September will be a Summer Party celebrating their anniversary as a business.

They have a gallery space where they would like to show some of my light boxes, so after some time and lots of moments of frustration I can say I'm setting an exhibition in London.

Hope this is the first of more exhibitions to come.

Keep travelling to your Ithaca!

Calling for exhibitors: Answered!

"Ithaca. 0mi - Destination unknown" was looking for a place to be shown and after all I am pleased to say that it will take place in Pinner during September.

At the moment, I keep trying to increase the amount of miles of Ithaca as it's a long journey to it, homever the one thousand miles journey begins with the first step, and a long time ago the journey begun so now it is all about keep moving.

It is not an easy target but surrealist landscapes always find the way.

Stay safe and sound!

km0

As everything in this life this project started a long time ago and it is not until the time goes when we can see the real origin of it.

Years ago I did a painting project called Lost Places which was all about hidden places in very touristic cities, I have never been worried about connect the painting with the city as that could change the whole idea.

Lost Places was about the joy of look for details that no-one has noticed, sometimes we would be right, some others... well, some others thousands of people have seen them before but still, the joy of discover them makes us feel special.

Despite, I have been seeing this paintings during my degree, at home, in the portfolio, everywhere... Nevertheless, It was not until now, after I have spend a year far away from them, when I noticed the connection of those figurative landscapes with the abstractive ones that are in my mind now.

I hope you all find the origin of your ideas.

Destination: Ithaca

"When you set out on your journey to Ithaca,
pray that the road is long,
full of adventure, full of knowledge. (...)"1

During years an idea has been in my mind, words that became my obsession, a piece of literature that talk about the well-known proverb: Live, Laugh, Love.  Ithaca is about the feeling of the Journey, the worry in the eyes on the one who stay and the happyness on the one who leaves. The adventures to come against the fears of loneliness. Experiences, landscapes, sunrises in unknown cities...

A project under offer waiting for the opportunity to be presented. In future posts I will show the outdraw for the exhibition, references and all you need to know to enjoy "Destination Unknown. An Invisible Exhibition to Ithaca" from the shiny screen where you are reading this.

That is Ithaca.

So, let’s get started with this artistic online experience!
Hope to read from you soon,
